Metrocare Symposium

Connecting researchers, students, and community partners across DFW to Metrocare ACER (and to each other) unlocking collaboration, elevating emerging scholarship, and accelerating behavioral health innovation.

Designed and built using React Native (Expo), Supabase authentication, and Cursor-assisted development.

Objective

The opportunity was to transform the symposium from a passive event into an interactive, connected ecosystem.

Metrocare’s ACER Symposium needed a centralized digital platform that enabled real-time attendee discovery, session planning, and professional networking. The goal was to design a mobile-first experience that reduces friction and increases meaningful collaboration.

Key Design Decisions

  • Automatically present profile form for first-time users
  • Simplified card-based attendee browsing
  • Clear bottom navigation structure
  • Large touch targets for accessibility
  • Minimal cognitive load per screen
  • Professional visual tone aligned with healthcare innovation

Fragmented contact information

No structured attendee discovery

Limited post-event feedback

Static schedules

Manual networking

Attendees previously relied on:

Built Beyond the Prototype

  • React Native (Expo)
  • Supabase Authentication
  • Row Level Security policies
  • Postgres database
  • Environment variable management
  • Tunnel testing
  • Cursor + MCP development workflow

Unlike a static concept design, Metrocare Symposium was engineered with secure authentication, structured data models, and scalable backend logic.

User roles, profile states, and contact saving logic were implemented using Supabase with Row Level Security to ensure proper data access control.

From Concept to Code

  • Designed in Figma
  • Structured navigation and state logic
  • Built in React Native using Cursor
  • Implemented secure Supabase authentication
  • Configured environment variables
  • Tested via tunnel for mobile validation
